One thing I'm suspecting is the extreme contrast with the light around the character versus the shadows elsewhere (and just the plain contrast all around between light and shadow) might be a problem for some. LumaSharpen makes it cleaner and clearer. I add just a bit of vibrance (0.15 seems to be the right balance between nice looking and not overdoing it by too much) and LumaSharpen.

EDIT: 1.2.2.1 update to those two files: Well, I can't do this with every update, but I'm really curious to see if this helps people with problems with the game.Īnother thing you might also try is using SweetFX (or Reshade now) to tweak its looks a bit. I strongly recommend you backup globalgamemanagers.assets and resources.assets before putting the modified ones in the game's folder because it might just crash at some later point in the game or something.

It seems to run more smoothly without those shaders.Īnyway, here are the modified files if anyone wants to test: It's just the two files that were modified and nothing else, so you'll probably need to have the same version of the game (the latest one at this time. EDIT: Oh yeah, and I saw one that said something about bloom and nixed it too. I didn't even realize how much worse the noise makes the game look overall until it was gone, but I knew I hated it. It feels like the game is just much clearer and cleaner looking now. That "grain" static effect was just awful and I hated it. What's more, it really looks a lot nicer to me. I removed two shaders, one said MobileBlur and the other said something like NoiseAndGrain and it seems to work fine so far. So far Hollow Knight seems to be working for me though. To fix this, dump il2cpp dummy dlls using a tool like il2cppdumper or cpp2il. This is especially obvious when you export dump and import dump and find the file size much smaller. Many newer Unity games (especially non-pc games) are compiled with il2cpp which means that out of the box, UABEA cannot correctly deserialize any MonoBehaviour scripts. If AssetsTools is too complicated, you can also try UnityPy which has a simpler api with the cost of supporting less assets. UABEA can be a good way to figure out how the file is laid out, but the script can be written with AssetsTools. without interacting with the gui, try using AssetsTools.NET instead. If you're doing something that requires scripting such as dumping all of the fields from a MonoBehaviour, importing multiple text files or textures, etc. If you're trying to dump anything else, try AssetStudio or AssetRipper (uTinyRipper), but these tools cannot import again. UABEA can export textures and asset dumps, but that's about it. I do not have a lot of time, but I do hope to get to these someday. There have been many requested features such as sprite importing/exporting, better command line support, batch import/export from gui, etc. There's not much in the way of new features as of yet (I wasn't even planning on doing this). Also, it is built with Avalonia so it (should be) cross platform, no Wine needed. At the moment, implementing base features of UABE is still in progress. All of the UI has been kept the same for those familiar with UABE. The goal of UABEA is to remake UABE to keep it up to date. UABE has currently not been updated in a while and does not support newer Unity versions.
